ASX-listed property developer Cedar Woods has achieved topping out of its final residential building in its Clayton South community, Jackson Green.

The Aster Apartments will add to the three existing residential buildings in the $230 million masterplan Jackson Green, which also includes 151 townhomes across 6.5 hectares.

Launched in July 2020, Aster Apartments received interest from both first home buyers and investors during and after the COVID-19 pandemic, with the building achieving 86 per cent sell-through in October this year.

Cedar Woods’ Victorian Development Director James Bovell says the success of Aster Apartments demonstrates the strength and resilience of Melbourne’s suburban apartment market.

“We’ve seen strong and consistent demand for apartment living outside of the CBD and city fringe areas, with many purchasers wanting to pursue a low-maintenance lifestyle with a community feel – especially with the emergence of hybrid work,” said Bovell.

“Aster Apartments offers a low-maintenance alternative to a standalone home and caters to a wide range of purchasers, who are increasingly looking to be part of an established community development in close proximity to lifestyle outlets, schools, and green space.”

The Jackson Green development has been designed with sustainability in mind, with features double glazing, a photovoltaics system which will provide power and lighting to communal areas, a water reuse system, communal electric vehicle charging, and Tesla ride share program, elements which Bovell says speak to the future of what purchasers will look for when purchasing a home.

“By placing sustainability at the heart of Jackson Green we have been able to deliver a community that benefits both the residents of Jackson Green and the broader community of Clayton South,” said Bovell.

Comprising 128 one, two and three-bedroom apartments, Aster Apartments are set across three buildings, with open-plan layouts, private courtyards and balconies and stainless steel appliances.

The development is well serviced by existing infrastructure such as Monash University, Monash Medical Centre, Clayton Shopping Centre, two train stations, cafes, restaurants, hospitals, golf courses and some of Melbourne’s best recreational trails.

Aster is also on the doorstep of the Monash Employment Cluster, which boasts the largest concentration of jobs outside of Melbourne CBD.

Internal fit outs of The Aster Apartments is now underway, with an anticipated completion date of February 2023.
