Bathing Box 6 at Dendy Street Beach in the beachside suburb of Brighton will be auctioned on 28 March.

The beach box on the well known strip is located near the Brighton Lifesaving Club.

John Clarkson of hockingstuart is marketing the blue and yellow bathing box, with $150,000 plus price expectations.

Last year, he sold a new Brighton bathing box, 57a, for $215,000.

The agent has lengthy history with the suburbs' bathing boxes, being the first to auction one in 1999, for $58,000.

The highest known price for a Brighton bathing box was set in 2011 at $260,000.

While bathing boxes may be Brighton icons, they are known to fetch much more elsewhere in Victoria. In Portsea, the record for a boatshed sale was set in 2011 at $585,000. At an Australia Day auction this year, one sold for $553,000.
