The veteran stockbroker John McIntosh and wife Marita have bought a South Yarra townhouse.

It is in a Nicholas Day-designed duplex.

The whole floor garden apartment, in the Botanic precinct, features private lift access to three car garaging in the duplex.

The 390 square metre apartment last sold for $3.7 million in 2015 having cost $3.2 million in 2012.

There's whispers the upstairs neighbour, former Credit Suisse boss Marcel Kreis and partner Mimi Tang have sold their townhouse for $5.19 million.

Kay & Burton South Yarra agents Tom Staughton and Robert Fletcher had the four bedroom apartment listed with a $5 million to $5.3 million guide.

Kreis and Tang had previously owned the garden apartment.

The long demolished home had been the abode of the producer and writer team, Nadia Tass and David Parker whose box office successes include Malcolm and The Big Steal and Rikki.
