Urban’s tour of the Highline Westmead display suite
For Urban’s third display suite tour of the series, we went to check out the Highline display suite in Sydney’s western suburb of Westmead. The display suite featured a fully-equipped two-bedroom home, with a full kitchen, spacious lounge area, and two outdoor terraces.

HIGHLINE WESTMEAD AT A GLANCE
Developer: Deicorp
Architect: TURNER
Location: 160 Hawkesbury Road, Westmead, NSW
Number of apartments: 556
Construction slated for completion: 2020
The development spans across three residential towers, centred around a swimming pool, with meandering leafy pathways and verdant greenery. HIGHLINE WESTMEAD places a strong focus on resident amenity, with a string of resort-style facilities available to residents throughout the precinct.
Developer Deicorp’s goal was to create year-round holiday living, realised through all aspects of the design, from the spacious entertainer’s balconies to the poolside cabanas.
THE DESIGN
Inspired by the New York High Line – the project aims to disrupt traditional urban living with a focus on the simplicity and elegance of nature. The vision for the project has been designed by award-winning architecture firm Turner Studio, who have opted for exterior brickwork to reflect the adjacent heritage buildings, juxtaposed with soaring glass planes for a modern aesthetic.
THE RESIDENCES
The display suite mirrors the interior renders, with glossy stainless-steel fixtures, full-height glazing, soft woollen carpet and stone benchtops – which goes to show the benefit of visiting a display suite in person.
Highline’s New York theme is also represented within the apartment interiors, with a selection of Soho or Manhattan material palettes replicating traditional light and dark schemes. Highline kitchens feature clean lines and timeless style with reputable brand appliances and extensive storage in each home. The attention to detail shows the design team have thoughtfully curated apartments which are practical and built-to-last.
Apartment bedrooms are spacious and light-filled, with expansive glazing for plenty of natural light, and generous built-in wardrobes. Two- and three-bedroom apartments also feature adjoining ensuites with each master bedroom.
Each home’s main bathroom includes sophisticated LED lighting, a mirrored wall vanity, combined shower over bath, and a separate laundry.
LOCATION
Intelligent positioning of the development makes the most of the area’s elevated vantage point, meaning residents will enjoy outlooks of landscaped gardens, the majestic Blue Mountains, idyllic Parramatta park and river vistas, or vibrant cityscapes.
HIGHLINE WESTMEAD is close to trains, a new light rail service (opening 2023), and within walking distance to many local amenities. Both public and private Westmead hospitals are nearby and scheduled to undergo a $1 million expansion. Families will appreciate the convenience of both Catherine McAuley and Marist Brothers schools within walking distance from the development. A brand-new innovation quarter proposed by the University of Western Sydney and Charter Hall will also reside opposite HIGHLINE WESTMEAD. This precinct will dedicate 43,000 square metres to research centres, commercial spaces and retail outlets.
