The Wall Street Journal's House of the Year contest drew 456,939 total votes in December, with the winning home securing 52,633 votes to be the clear winner.
It's 7 Timberline Lane, Riverwoods.
The photos from the Wall Street Journal House of the Year show the 5,700-square foot home, which beat off the 48 other House of the Week winners has a pagoda-style in its Chicago suburban location.
It was described as "a mix of architectural styles, with echoes of Frank Lloyd Wright and a dash of 1970s interior design."
It is located in Riverwoods, and remains listed for just under $US2 million having been listed at $US2.7 million.
It's listed through Tracy Wurster of Prudential Rubloff Properties in Lake Forest, Illinois.
The house even has a 30-foot rubber tree growing in the living room.
The WSJ has a House of the Day chosen by its real estate staff after reviewing large, upscale properties in for-sale listings across the country.
During the year the most expensive listing was $US44 million and the least was just $US895,000.
The end-of-year review found seven sold homes with all sales at under the asking price.
The smallest discount was 7%; the largest was 30%.
