The former Gold Coast family home of tennis player Bernard Tomic has sold.

The Tomic family took ownership of half of the duplex in 2004 when the four bedroom section sold for $340,000.

Five years later they spent another $500,000 on the other half, comprising three bedrooms, bringing their total outlay to $840,000.

The two properties had been on and off the market since 2009.

The four bedroom apartment had been asking $820,000 in 2009, with the three bedroom unit asking $750,000 in 2012, which would have yielded a $1.57 million sale.

It recently sold for a combined $1,167,000, with a $1,165 a week tenant, as the listing advised the Tomic's were 'committed elsewhere'.

The home was under the ownership of dad Ivica, although Ivan was also named on a $3.5 million Paradise Waters purchase in 2015 which is expected to be the home of the big hitting tennis player.

The four bedroom home was built in 2012 on an 800 sqm canal site with views to the Surfers Paradise skyline.
