Kim Peabody, the wife of former Brisbane restauranteur TJ Peabody, has listed the couple's sprawling Chelmer home with a price guide of up to $11m.

It cost $2.85 million in 2003 when they were upgrading from St Lucia.

Ray White New Farm agents Matt Lancashire and Meaghan Bakker have the riverfront listing.

The grand family home, which won the Master Builders House of the Year in 2009, was designed by Harry Poulous Architects using elements of classic American architecture.

Under the handcrafted Welsh slate roof with 34 roof pitches lies seven bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a billiard room with a bar and a walk in, climate controlled 1,200 bottle wine cellar.

There's two fully self-contained guest houses in the 2,400 sqm landscaped gardens which also feature a championship-size, floodlit tennis court and a heated swimming pool, looked over by the barbecue kitchen alfresco space.

The heir to the $500 million Peabody fortune is selling to pay back his father who bailed him out when his Brisbane restaurant empire collapsed two years ago.

TJ Peabody had fine-dining establishments in Indooroopilly, Fortitude Valley and Petrie Terrace offering Italian, grill and Nantucket-style food.

His father, rich-lister Terry Peabody paid off creditor bills following the collapse.

TJ was adamant the sale was his decision, not a forced sale.
