The heritage-listed 1904 Federation mansion, Theace in Gordon has been listed for 9 October auction.

It was designed by architect Oliver Harley, who lived in Killara until his death in 1921 at his residence, Llanberis.

It has been the home of developer Peter Icklow, chief executive of Monarch Investments, and wife Kea since 1983, when they paid $330,000.

Then next door was added allowing tennis court and a pool on the 3,550 square metre estate, is one of the Upper North Shore's premiere landholdings.

There is with a commanding dual gated entrance, stunning manicured gardens and a coveted north to rear aspect.

The residence features opulent interiors including formal lounge, music and dining rooms with Kauri solid timber floorboards

It goes to auction with $8 million plus hopes through Chadwicks Lynette Malcolm.

The suburb record of $5,775,000 was set in 2010 by the house just across the road.
