The Freedman brothers Mornington Peninsula farm Markdel under offer
Markdel, the Mornington Peninsula thoroughbred training facility owned by the horse training Freedman brothers, is under offer.
The 38 hectare Fingal property that brothers Lee, Richard, Michael an Anthony designed and built in 2002 had been on the market for almost two years.
The Freedman's departed the farm in stages, with Anthony the last to go in 2012 when he moved his stables to Flemington.
It's the property that Makybe Diva prepared for two of her three Melbourne Cup triumphs.
Markdel includes an 85-box stable complex, a 1200 metre sand-based grass track, an 1800-metre rising railed sand track and a heated horse swimming pool
Apart from the Melbourne Cup triumphs, winners of the Caulfield Cup, Golden Slipper, Cox Plate and numerous Derbies and Oaks have all trained at Markdel.
Colliers International agent Shane McIntyre secured the sale, without ever offering a price guide.
But he advised the cost to replicate could be argued to be commercially unjustifiable in today’s marketplace.
