The Block renovation show, now in its 12th season, debuted last night.

Starting half an hour earlier than Ten's Australian Survivor, The Block attracted 1.074 million metro viewers, the third most-watched show of the night.

The debut episode of Australian Survivor drew 784,000 metro viewers.

Its tribal council peaked at 1.2 million viewers, the fifth most-watched show of the night behind 60 Minutes.

Seven's last night Rio Olympics coverage and the ABC's Grand Designs New Zealand were also in the Top 10 programs of Sunday.

Seven's heavily promoted Zumbo's Just Desserts debuts tonight, airing at 7.30pm in direct competition with both The Block and Australian Survivor.
