Former Olympic swimmer Susie O'Neill has sold her Yeronga riverfront near Brisbane for $3 million.

The home sold under the hammer last night through Ray White New Farm agent Christine Rudolph.

About 300 people attended the auction last night and 200 groups had gone through inspections of the home which was bought by a close friend of O'Neill's.

O'Neill paid $2.6 million for the riverfront with her husband Cliff Fairley in 2008.

The couple never got round to building their dream home despite having an architect draw up plans.

Set on a sprawling 1325 sqm and bordered by nature reserve, the private 1950s Art Deco-style home has four bedrooms and two bathrooms.

Despite the climate there was no pool for the Olympic gold medalist.

The sale matches the $3 million she scored for her Cabarita beach house in Northern New South Wales.

Former Canberra Raiders legend Gary Belcher will be hoping for a similar result having recently listed his Cabarita home.
