Sydney Swans long-time coach John Longmire and wife Shelley are on the move having listed their coastal eastern suburbs home.

It's the Malabar property they purchased shortly after he was given the top job at the club.

The couple paid $1.7 million in 2011.

They've embraced the beachside lifestyle, reflected in their full-scale renovation over their seven year ownership.

The facade is typical beach, with a neutral white and blue wash, replacing the old and tired terracotta, green and cream coloured exterior.

The two level home 200 metres from the beach has four bedrooms and two bathrooms.

The upstairs master retreat with lounge and study space opens to a balcony with ocean, bay and headland views.

Renovations came in 2013, with the most recent addition coming late last year when they added a rear solar heated swimming pool and poolside cabana.

They also scored approval for a new three level, five bedroom home, which comes with the sale.

The estimated costs to build the home submitted to the council is just over $1.1 million.

South Eastern Realty Malabar agents Greg and Angela Gladstone have it scheduled for forthcoming auction.

The listing has been nearly two years in the making.

In 2016 there was an off market offering, however no official listing materialized.

Longmire will be no doubt eyeing the street record, which currently belongs to his star-studded midfielder Luke Parker, who paid $2.6 million for a five bed home with a swimming pool last year.

Longmire took over from former Swans boss Paul Roos after the 2010 season having been a coach at the Swans since 2000, a year after his 11 year career at North Melbourne came to a close.

In his last game as a player he won his only 1999 AFL premiership.

Success came quicker in his coaching career, winning the 2012 premiership in his second year in charge.
