Sustainable bushfire-proof straw Daylesford house, The Green House, listed
Daylesford and Hepburn Mineral Water Co founder Mitch Watson is selling his Daylesford home at the foothills of Victoria’s spa precinct.
It was designed by Joost Bakker with the sustainability guru’s trademark grassed rooftop.
The Green House occupies a three-hectare Daylesford site with the three-bedroom residence billed Australia’s first bushfire resistant straw house.
It also has sustainable solar power and hot water systems.
The kitchen overlooks its lounge and dining room, divided by a dual-opening Cheminees Philippe open fireplace.
The Green House, at 50A Railway Crescent, is expected to sell for about $1.45 million at March 18 auction through Jellis Craig’s Tom May and Terry Gibson.
