A vast townhouse in a former church in Sydney's Paddington is for auction.

Located at 265 Oxford Street it is without a doubt one of Paddington’s finest transformation.

It is designed by architect Dale Swan of Archer Mortlock Woolley and features a glass lift with a north facing alfresco courtyard.

There are valuted ceilings with king truss exposed and electric skylights for temperature control.

The building still has its original sandstone walls along with Italian Poliform kitchen with miele appliances, marble bench top and ample soft closing storage that will impress anyone.

It also features built-in wardrobes, an intercome, basement car parking and it is all fully furnished.

The property is offered through Black Diamondz.

The historic St John’s church site, one of the most well-known properties on Sydney’s Oxford Street strip, has been transformation into a boutique residential and retail project over recent years.

The site was sold by Savills in 2010 year for $9 million to the developers who have given the historic Paddington landmark a new lease of life.

It was in 1859 when the Gothic-style St John’s church was built to a design by Henry Robertson.

In 1885 it was extended by the church hall at the rear. It was deconsecrated as a Presbyterian church in 2000.

The church sold in 2004 for $8.3 million to a syndicate who offloaded the project in 2010.

It sits within the Sydney City Council municipality.
