Property guru Andrew Winter, the presenter of Selling Houses Australia and Love it or List it, has long aspired to beachside living following his move from the UK.

Now some 14 years after his move to Queensland’s Gold Coast, he and wife Caroline have snapped up a home at Mermaid Beach (above).

They’ve spent $1,525,000 on a house just two rows back from the pricey beachfront strip, known as Millionaire’s Row.

They secured the home just two weeks into its marketing with a $1,575,000 asking price. Offering ocean views from its front deck, the single-storey, three-bedroom home sold through Ray White Mermaid Beach agent Joanna Bell-Booth.

Winter is still waiting for a buyer for his renovated Sanctuary Cove home (below) which was listed in January with $3.95 million hopes. It is now for sale through different agents.

The Tuscan-inspired residence, which cost the couple $1.9 million two years ago, has undergone renovations. Earlier this year Winter told realestate.com.au the home embraced the Queensland lifestyle with its open spaces and sunny position. “You throw the doors open and you’re right on the water. It has a pool, you get cross-ventilation, you get enough sun but not too much,” Winter said.

“For a Pom, it’s embracing the climate that we live in and the outdoor lifestyle.”

Winter said Sanctuary Cove, on the northern end of the coast, had been a wonderful place to raise their three children. “We have decided it’s time for a beach change,” he said. “So we are joining the hip set.”

Winter always signalled his preference had been a “beachside knockdown and rebuild” adding that the Gold Coast was very much at the beginning of its real estate boom.
