Rio Tinto boss Jean-Sebastien Jacques and wife Muriel Demarcus have bought in Sydney.

The couple have spent $3,025,000 on a Walsh Bay apartment bolthole for when they are not in London.

Spanning 110 sqm, the fifth level apartment has two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a full-length terrace.

Jacques, who was made CEO in 2016, joined the company in 2011.

In a recent interview Muriel, who runs frenchyummymummy.com, writing about the cultural differences between the French and the British, said Sydney feels like home.

Muriel said the flat she had rented in Sydney was twice as big as her London home, and cost a fraction of the price.
