Queensland has Australia's top solar postcodes
Nearmap, the Aussie aerial imagery company, has paired its high-res imagery with the latest Clean Energy Regulator data, revealing the postcodes around the country with the highest rooftop solar uptake since 2001.
Queensland showed why its called the ‘Sunshine State’ taking out seven of the top ten postcodes.
Western Australia claimed the remaining three spots.
Postcode 4670 in South East Queensland topped the list with 11,756 homes installed with solar units, closely followed by 6210 in Western Australia, just south of Perth, with 11,409 units installed since 2001.
“From the ground it can be difficult to see the progress our country is making to reduce energy costs and our carbon footprint,” said Nearmap executive, Shane Preston, “but when you look at it from the air, you can observe in incredible detail the renewable energy uptake occurring across our country.
"We’ve been capturing aerial images of Australia for the last 10 years, and have recently seen a dramatic change in the rooftop landscape, with many more solar panels on Aussie homes.”
“However, this is just the beginning. As the benefits of renewable energies like solar continue to surface, we can expect to see more demand for installations. For businesses, having access to Nearmap’s high-res aerial images will become increasingly important.
"Using this imagery, solar companies can remotely identify new business opportunities, accurately estimate the power output and quote customers, all without leaving the office.
"The ability to do all this remotely means businesses can not only save time, but can further contribute to reducing the carbon footprint by taking hundreds, if not thousands of cars off the road every year.”
