A riverfront Maroochydore trophy apartment has been sold for $2.7 million, the highest sale this year in the town.

It was only on the market for a week with a $2.75 million asking price.

There are some 7000 units in the Sunshine Coast location.

Fronting the Maroochy River, the unit 701/14 Duporth Avenue, is location within the Platinum building.

The three-bedroom, three-bathroom home is within walking distance of the Maroochydore patrolled beach along with Cotton Tree Park.

Terri Liddell of G1 Property held the listing noting there was a "buzz about the Sunshine Coast region."

"There is now major infrastructure, including the new multi-billion dollar University Hospital, many tech hubs, and a new airport runway opening in 2020, which will be a game-changer offering direct international flights," she suggested.

The property last sold for $2.31 million in 2015.

Last December unit 202 in the Platinum development sold for $1.8 million securing four-bedrooms and two-bathrooms.

An eighth floor apartment was listed this month asking $2,795,000.
