JGL completes Thornton, Kangaroo Point apartments
Local Brisbane developer JGL Properties has completed its luxury Kangaroo Point apartment development, Thornton.
Recently delivered by Hutchinson Builders, Thornton is a 14-level residential building comprises just 16 full-floor, north-facing riverfront apartments at 11 Thornton Street, Kangaroo Point.
Simon Caulfield at Place Kangaroo Point secured the sell-out of all the apartments prior to completion.
Designed in a collaborative effort involving Architect Liam Proberts, chef and restaurateur Thierry Galichet, gallerist and curator Phillip Bacon AO and artist Ralph Wilson, Thornton's contemporary glass tower and interiors combine functionality with aesthetic appeal.
Each unit within Thornton is designed for optimal cross-flow ventilation, facilitated by operable edges, and a façade made from insulated glass panels.
The panels create a fluid exterior that provides both shelter and airflow to the interior, while a glass frit adds density and shade, echoing Brisbane’s traditional veranda design.
Thornton is located on the final riverside address at Kangaroo Point, offering 33 metres of direct Brisbane River and park frontage, where residents can enjoy panoramic views spanning from the Botanic Gardens, across the city skyline, to the Story Bridge.
The development is within walking distance of the new Kangaroo Point Pedestrian Green Bridge, Woolworths, cafes, and Queen's Wharf.
Thornton is also directly connected to riverfront walkways and bikeways, with the Thornton Street ferry terminal offering transit to New Farm, Teneriffe, Howard Smith Wharves, the city centre, QPAC, and South Bank.
Leading educational institutions such as Anglican Church Grammar School, Somerville House, and All Hallows' are also nearby.
