The Brisbane-based Dusk Group is making a bold move north, submitting plans for a rare new apartment development in Caloundra on the Sunshine Coast.

Dusk Group, led by Hew Feeney, is seeking to develop Sunset by Dusk Group, a seven-level building at 5-7 Bombala Terrace, a prime 1,255 sqm site a few streets away from both the beach and the centre of Caloundra.

Just 36 apartments have been proposed in the building designed by MAS Architecture Studio.

Lead architect Nick Symonds said he’s taken his inspiration from the nearby Kings Beach and Bulcock Beach.

“The façade’s earthy colour palette and contrasting textures reflect the warm golden sands of Caloundra’s local beaches, giving an instant holiday feel,” Symonds said.

“The gently curved balconies reflect a contemporary coastal aesthetic while the floor-to-ceiling windows and spacious balconies create true indoor, outdoor connection.”

The design incorporates a ground-floor swimming pool, BBQ area, resident lounge area, welcoming foyer, and a green communal space.

“Sunset delivers what people have come to expect from modern coastal living.”

Dusk Group Director Anthony Short said residents will enjoy amazing water views to the north, east, and south.

“Residents can take in breathtaking sunset panoramas from Bulcock Beach to Bribie  Island, and there’s the stunning Glasshouse mountains to the west,” Short said.

The development is not just close to the beach but within walking distance to many modern amenities including Seasons Supermarket, Bicentennial Park, Kings Beach Tavern, and Caloundra Bowls Club.

One, two, and three-bedroom apartment configurations will be on offer, with prices starting from $700,000, appealing to a wide range of buyers including first home buyers, investors, and local downsizers.

“I can’t wait to see Sunset come to life, meeting the need for quality design holiday apartments in the booming Sunshine Coast region,” Symonds added.

Construction is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2025.

Dusk Group is currently delivering Aurora on Depper, a small collection of townhouses in St Lucia in Brisbane.
