Cintra and Core secure approval for heritage-focussed Bowen Hills apartment development, The Abbotsford
Economic Development Queensland has given the greenlight for a new residential development in Bowen Hills, on the northern fringe of the Brisbane CBD.
Cintra Property and Core Property Partners will transform the 4,092 sqm site at 23-39 Abbotsford Road into 122 apartments across two eight-storey buildings, with the development anchored by a restored heritage-listed residence.
The historic house is a focal point to the project, dating back to the 1870s.
DKO Architecture took inspiration from the heritage residence as well as Brisbane’s contemporary sub-tropical lifestyle.
All of the two and three-bedroom apartments feature expansive living areas, study zones and oversized balconies oriented to maximise privacy and views.
Core Property Partners Managing Director Nathan Andersen said his company would deliver The Abbotsford to the elevated site, only 3km from the CBD, that provides inner city convenience within a suburban landscape of large historic residences.
“The Abbotsford has the incredible advantage that comes with having Brisbane’s best food, retail and entertainment precincts on its doorstep, while maximising the outlook and views that comes with its elevated location,” Andersen said.
“The existing heritage residence, which is more than 150 years old, will undergo a meticulous restoration to become the central hub of the two boutique buildings, connecting the residential spaces with shared recreation areas and landscaped gardens on the ground level.
“This emphasis on lifestyle and wellness continues on both rooftops, which feature their own entertainment areas with pools, yoga lawns and open spaces to take in the outstanding views.
“Liveability is key, with the spacious apartments designed to a high standard of excellence, all cleverly capturing natural light, large living spaces and substantial storage. Coupled with direct access to rail and bus, The Abbotsford will become a great place to live.’’
Andersen said The Abbotsford’s location within the Bowen Hills Priority Development Area, on the doorstep of major transport, employment, health, retail and dining precincts, added to the liveability and amenity infused throughout the project’s design.
“Residents will enjoy access to the city’s best entertainment, dining and retail precincts, from the precincts of James Street, Gasworks and King Street, to the culture and commerce of the CBD itself."
The site is located opposite Bowen Hills train station, two stops from Central station with connecting lines across the city, including both airports, and is within walking distance to the RNA Showgrounds and Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. Major bus routes can be accessed from stops metres from the entrance of The Abbotsford.
