Cielo Group to develop mixed-use development in Bulimba

Designed by locals, Zarchitects, the boutique three-storey development is set to feature just eight two-bedroom and six three-bedroom apartments.

The South East Queenslander developer, Cielo Group, has lodged plans for a boutique mixed-use project in Brisbane's Bulimba.

The three-level development 360 Riding Road, Bulimba, has been designed by Cielo's go-to architecture firm, Zarchitects, who recently designed Cielo's Bloom Bilinga, their debut project on the Gold Coast.

The Bulimba development will have just eight two-bedroom apartments and six three bedders.

According to the group, the design seeks to balance stone cladding, render and concrete elements in white and grey tones with fine timber batten screening and glazing.

“The form incorporates curved slabs and walls where possible for a softened visual impact," Zarchitect noted in their supporting documents in the application to the Brisbane City Council.

"The balcony edges flute in a wave pattern along the frontages, to create a visually interesting built form and enhance articulation on long elevations."

The project will activate the corner on the prominent Bulimba roundabout location with one 100 sqm ground floor retail café tenancy located featuring both indoor and outdoor dining.

A large rooftop deck will crown the building, split into a residents rooftop communal area as well as a 400 sqm rooftop public bar, which will feature a swimming pool with pool bar, pool deck, booths and dining tables, with seating areas incorporated to maximise vistas of the nearby Brisbane River.

Clad in deep planting and landscaped gardens, the proposed development has been designed to reflect the intent and purpose of the two or three-storey mix precinct of the low-medium density residential zone.

Cielo recently launched Bloom, in the tightly held Gold Coast suburb of Bilinga.

Cielo had been looking for an opportunity to break in to the Gold Coast for about year, before finding the 503 sqm site at 55 Golden Four Drive, just north of Kirra's dress circle Musgrave Street.

GV Property Group sold the site, with plans by Boris Design for a six-level building with five apartments, ranging in size from two and four-bedrooms, with some of the bigger four-bedders spanning two levels.

But when Cielo secured the site, they engaged the Brisbane architecture firm Z Architects, who they had worked with extensively in the Queensland capital on a number of projects, to create something more striking.

They also recently submitted plans for a boutique project in Brisbane's Balmoral.
