Professional ballet dancer Li Cunxin sells in Ascot
Professional ballet dancer and Mao's Last Dancer Li Cunxin has sold his Ascot family home for $2.25 million through Ray White agent Damon Warat.
Li paid $1,825,000 for the home in 2012, having relocated from Melbourne with his family of four when he joined Queensland Ballet as their artistic director.
The five bedroom home across two levels features a gourmet open plan kitchen which opens to an oversized alfresco area overlooking the swimming pool and gardens.
Li Cunxin was the subject of 2003 book Mao's Last Dancer, his story about being plucked from a poor Chinese village to study at Madame Mao's Beijing Dance Academy.
It was released as a movie in 2009.
Li had much more luck in the Brisbane property stakes than he did in Melbourne.
His South Yarra mansion, The Tilba, remains on the market having failed to find a buyer since its 2015 listing.
The extensively renovated six bedder that Li had bought after it had been trading as the boutique Tilba Hotel, had expected to fetch more than $5 million.
It is listed through Abercromby's agents Rob Vickers-Willis and Hugh Hardy.
