Worthington Island, a 28 hectare island off the Queensland Coast, has been listed at $385,000.

The island is priced at around half the median house price in Brisbane.

Set off Gladstone Airport, it has been offered through Private Island Australian agent Richard Vanhoff.

It is within a 30-minute boat ride to the mainland.

The home is about 9 x 4.3 metres with a side awning of 9 x3 metres and a front awning 6.2 x 4.3 metres.

It comes with a shower area, lockable access door, gas stove and 240v fridge and deep freezer including 240v power points.

Other features include solar power panels on the roof, wind generator, welder and machinery.

There are 18 mango trees, a Carambola tree, and bee keeping boxes (active) and plenty of natural flora and fauna, with orchids scattered all over the island.

Worthington Island is on a lease from the Department of Natural Resources and Mines — with eight years left to run.

But a 25-year renewal could be sought, Vanhoff advises.
