Beverly Briggs, one of the original members of the first popular Aboriginal all-female group The Sapphires, has listed her long-held Zetland home.

Briggs has owned the home for four decades, having paid $34,000 in 1977, after she moved from Shepparton in Victoria.

“I’ve enjoyed this property for many years," Briggs, who Briggs worked at the Aboriginal Medical Centre in Redfern, said.

"I will be sad to say goodbye to the neighbours, this is a tight knit community and I have made some good friends however it is time to move interstate closer to family”.

There's $1.2 million price guidance for its December 9 auction through Laing + Simmons agents Dean Applegate and Jordan Musri.

Set behind a cast iron picket fence, the single level Federation terrace with period details has been marketed as a blank canvas.

It has three bedrooms, a separate lounge and a rear courtyard off the kitchen and dining area.

A signed Sapphires photo of their time touring features in the marketing.

Briggs, along with Laurel Robinson and Naomi Myers, were the three original members of the Sapphires.

The movie, based on the band's story, was the most successful Australian film of 2012.

Featuring actress Miranda Tapsell and singer Jessica Mauboy, the movie was based on the play that Laurel Robinson's son Tony wrote.

The film depicts the Sapphires as Australia's answer to the Supremes, and how they were talent-spotted to perform soul numbers for the troops in Vietnam.
