Old fashion real estate sign boards going high tech

Vendors and estate agents should not underestimate the effectiveness of the tried-and-tested sign board on the front fence when selling houses, according to the property expert Andrew Winter.

While the internet is increasingly becoming the preferred method for researching, it takes all forms of advertising to sometimes secure the sale.

Many agencies are now embracing technological developments by creating mobile apps that use photo recognition software to alllow potential buyers to access information about property, by simply taking a picture of the sign board with their mobile phone.

LJ Hooker recently added a visual recognition feature to their mobile app which has the information available on its 150,000 property listing.

Such software allows passers by to quickly gain access to virtual tours and inspection times, with the click of a button.

Mr Winter says a beautiful photo of an aspect of your home, which is not immediately visible from the street, along with accurate information on a sign board, can improve your chances of getting the best price for your property.

Winter says it may seem to some that signs boards only benefits the agent, who gets free brand advertising in your frontyard, but Winter says it can also be a useful tool in selling your house.

He says one kind of advertising alone is not going to sell your house, and a sign board can help people find your property as well as draw the attention of passers by.
