Oceans Edge, one of only a handful of absolute beachfront properties along Oak Beach in North Queensland, has hit the market with $2.2 million hopes.

Fronting the 1.5 kilometre stretch of coconut palm fringed beach, Oceans Edge is a contemporary beachfront just south of Port Douglas.

The elevated living space and the wet edge salt water swimming pool frame the ocean views through the palms.

The two storey Oak Street beach retreat has three ensuited bedrooms.

The master retreat on the first floor has ocean views and a large marble ensuite with full size luxury bath.

Mark Flinn at Ray White Port Douglas, who is handling the marketing, notes its been a strong 250 night a year holiday rental.

The Oak Beach record has stood since 2005. It was when Cottonwood, the tropical acreage of the New Zealand-based Lucas family, sold for $3.25 million.

The beachfront acreage is currently listed at $6.5 million through LJ Hooker agent Michael Samson, having been remodelled in 2010.

The highest sale in the interim was when another Oak Street beachfront, a few doors down from Oceans Edge, fetched $1,905,000 late last year.
