The seaside village of Huskisson on the fringe of the popular Jervis Bay locale is set for a rare new apartment development.

Syzygy Development is planning Kai, a two-building project on an amalgamated block across 1 Bowen Street and 38-40 Sydney Street, a stone's throw from the heart of the town.

Kai will home 37 one, two, and three-bedroom apartments ranging from 88 to 260 sqm, with buyers offered the option to choose from different floor plans and customisation options to suit different lifestyles.

The diverse apartment types are a deliberate move to provide housing choices that accommodate different demographics, such as families and retirees with the inclusion of larger apartments.

Designed by Oztal Architects, Kai seeks to reflect an emerging coastal character for future residential developments within the urban framework, given no new development has occurred for some time within proximity.

Kai's architectural elements will include lightweight features, extensive glazed areas, natural timber finishes, bonded sheet metal cladding, concrete, natural stone, steel, and lightweight cladding.

The landscape design will also align with the development and surrounding environment, focusing on biodiversity and stormwater management by incorporating mature trees and deep soil coverage.

Kai will offer a mix of private retreats and shared communal areas across different levels, along with adequate parking including secure basement parking with designated spots for residents and visitors.

The development targets a market of both personal buyers and investors, with a significant interest in the area’s holiday letting potential.

Huskisson, with its small village charm and access to national parks and beaches, is becoming more popular as infrastructure improvements make it more accessible. The area is also close to towns like Berry, Kiama, and Milton, making it an attractive holiday location.

Kai is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.
