NSW Ombudsman Bruce Barbour's Burradoo has been sold for $2.1 million.

It came after he dropped the price of his retreat to $2.2 million this year through selling agent John Renouf of Drew Lindsay Property Bowral.

The 4462 square metre garden estate (pictured below) was initially listed at $2.6 million in 2011.

Designed by architect Colin Griffiths in 1987 in the California-Palm Springs style for fabric and blind company retailer Terry Bayliss, the L-shaped four-bedroom house is built in brick, glass and cedar.

Terry Bayliss sold it for $600,000 in 1999.

Since Barbour (pictured below) bought the property for $1,975,000 in August 2007, he renovated the bathrooms and remodelled the kitchen.

The gardens were impressive, John Renouf told interested buyers.

The formal garden, with its cyprus hedge around the pool and spectacular specimen trees and shrubs, is maintained by renowned Highlands landscaper Sue Strangman.
