How Rosebery turned from industrial warehouses to thriving foodie hub
As one of Sydney's first planned suburbs, Rosebery was created to accommodate expansive industrial workplaces in 1911.
Despite the once working-class suburb experiencing a transformation of its industrial warehouses into food and beverage hubs which has drawn peoples attention to Rosebery, there's been little activity in the new and off the plan apartment space, with land for a new development difficult to procure.
Rosebery ticks a lot of boxes for buyers. Its proximity to the city, just six kilometres and a number of transports routes to accomodate that, is one of the major drawcards, as is the distance to the University of New South Wales, just the other side of Moore Park.
One of the most recent entrants to the new and off the plan apartment space in Rosebery is The Rothschild by renowned developer Deicorp.
The Candelapas-designed apartment development is ideally located at 24 Rothschild Avenue, just six kilometres from Sydney’s city centre and within walking distance of the best Rosebery offers.
The Rothschild's design reflects the industrial heritage of Rosebery, but with European influences. The Rothschild is made with bricks, with the facade curtained by circular columns, arches, and cascading greenery.
Two eight-level buildings will home 176 apartments, multiple outdoor areas, a communal music room and a ground-level retail space.
Residents can access the private landscaped rooftop gardens and the communal courtyard to relax, interact and play while enjoying quick access to the nearby Sweetacres Park.
With all the amenity options within The Rothschild, residents can enjoy the ground-level restaurant and café beneath the residential apartments. The East Village Shopping, Woolworths Metro Rosebery and Wholefoods House are all within walking distance of home for retail conveniences.
The Rothschild is just 550 metres to The Cannery, which really lit a spark under the suburb as a place to visit.
Housed in a revived warehouse space, The Cannery brings together food, drinks and designer homewares, with vendors such as Three Blue Ducks, Koskela and Archie Rose Distilling Co featured in the building, while popular favourites like Messina, Pizza Da Mario and Grandma’s have also made a home for themselves in the burgeoning suburb.
The Rothschild is located just across the road from Sweetacres Park, a green outlook rarely found in an inner-city suburb.
Construction on The Rothschild is well underway, with completion slated for early 2025.
