Downsizers splash $21.49 million on Ode Double Bay penthouse
Sydney development group Top Spring Australia has sold the second penthouse within its Ode Double Bay development, fetching a price of a cool $21.49 million.
The 219 sqm penthouse, which features an upper level with a private 111 sqm rooftop terrace, complete with a spa and landscaped entertaining spaces, was sold to a couple seeking to downsize from their five-bedroom harbour-front residence in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.
The penthouse comprises three-bedrooms, three-bathrooms, a media room and multiple living and dining zones. The master bedroom features a custom walk-in robe with leather finishes and an oversized bathroom complete with a freestanding bath, double shower, marble bench tops, and travertine flooring.
A private wine cellar adjoins the expansive entertainer’s kitchen and butler’s pantry, finished in natural stone bench tops, custom joinery and a choice of either timber or travertine floors.

It’s the third time Ode has broken the previous pricing record of $16.092 million in the blue-ribbon suburb, with the adjoining penthouse selling off the plan for $24.9 million and a sub-penthouse selling for $17.495 million.
Top Spring Australia Managing Director, Sydney Ma, said the sale of the two Ode penthouses to local buyers is a testament to its exceptional architecture and location, and its enduring contribution to the renaissance of Double Bay.
“From its refined architecture, artwork and concierge service to the vibrancy of the custom interiors and ground floor retail spaces, Ode’s contribution ultimately extends beyond that of a residential experience, to a complete and unrivalled lifestyle experience,” Ma said.
All three record-breaking sales were brokered by 1st City Real Estate Group.
Managing Director Brad Caldwell-Eyles said wine collecting is a passion of the latest penthouse purchasers.
“The wine room was certainly a real draw card, alongside the lifestyle, convenience, outlook and quality that comes with living at Ode Double Bay,” Caldwell-Eyles said.
“Our buyers are very active in golf, travel and their family office’s business interests, and the opportunity to downsize from their five-bedroom harbourfront home to this exquisite three-bedroom plus media room penthouse was perfectly timed.”

Located at 19-27 Cross Street, the corner site also directly links to local retail and dining offerings, and is located close to local beaches, parks and public spaces.
The remaining three-bedroom apartments start from $9.695 million, while the four-bedroom
residences start from $11.995 million.
