Over the past two decades the Pyrmont residential market has moved more or less in line with the Metropolitan Sydney market, with rents and prices showing solid long term rises.

But 20 years ago there was the suggestion Pyrmont may become an urban opportunity sacrificed to developers' profits, destined to become the slum of the next century.

Pyromnt was put under the spotlight yesterday in a piece by BIS Shrapnel's Angie Zigomanis.

It was a 1994 forecast by the late architect Rollin Schlicht in an article that appeared in the Sydney Morning Herald.
