Construction has commenced on the Lower North Shore's latest residential development, The Newlands.

Based in Hong Kong and Australia, Top Spring Australia has appointed DASCO as its construction partner, with early works and demolition commencing on site. The project is expected to start to come out of the ground toward the end of 2023.

Bordered by absolute park front on three sides, the 1.26-hectare masterplanned community in St Leonards is embracing an "inner-city tree-change" lifestyle says Colliers Director Daniel McMahon, where established green spaces will connect with a central 5,700 sqm green spine and 1,500 sqm of communal rooftop amenity.

One, two and three-bedroom apartments are on offer at The Newlands, in addition to three-bedroom garden terraces, designed by multidisciplinary design firm, Bates Smart, in collaboration with landscape architects, Arcadia.

The highly-anticipated development is set to roll out in stages, revitalising a well-selected pocket of the area and breathing new life into the community.

Nestled between Marshall Avenue, Canberra Avenue, Park Road, and River Road, the masterplan is strategically positioned, with Newlands Park providing a picturesque backdrop to the east. The location boasts a rare mix of urban conveniences and natural splendour, with the lush bushland stretching beyond River Road, cascading down to the serene Sydney Harbour.

While the masterplan will welcome new households to the tightly-held area, there's a grander Council plan in the works, thanks to the St Leonards and Crows Nest 2036 Plan.

Community infrastructure will get an upgrade, while green spaces were fundamental in the design vision. New pedestrian and bicycle pathways will be incorporated, along with the expansion of Newlands Park, childcare facilities, cafes and pocket parks.

Comprising five low-rise buildings, 329 residences will be constructed across the site along Canberra Avenue, with the lines between exterior and interior set to be blurred.

Stage one of the development is selling now, with prices for a one-bedroom apartment priced from $815,000. The two-bedders start from $1,295,000, while the three-bedroom garden terraces come in at $2,705,000.
