From the copper on the timber front door, 36 Kent Street, Newtown is an abode with art you can live in.

There are $1.1 million plus hopes for the 247 square metre inner Sydney space which dates back to the early 1990s.

The colourful corner block offering has been a labour of love by the owner builders. The block cost $130,000 in 1989 when bought by Catherine Barber, the Kennedy Miller film financing veteran.

Newtown's highest price in the past year was $3,625,000 for 1 Warren Ball Avenue, with CoreLogic RPData reporting the median house price sits at $1 million.

The auction is scheduled for 14 March.

Another more typical Newtown offering goes to auction this weekend with $800,000 plus hopes.

The Ray White agency has the two bedroom 1910 semi with attic space.

Behind the traditional facade of 87 Bedford Street, there are the standard rustic floorboards, original fireplaces and ornate ceiling roses.
