Mark and Kim Waugh buy Port Stephens holiday unit
Australian cricket legend Mark Waugh and his wife, successful horse trainer Kim, have bought a holiday apartment in the heart of Port Stephens.
The apartment, with gun-barrel views looking out over the water, cost $500,000 for the two bedroom unit in a 1980s block.
Kim Westcott at O'Meara Property Nelson Bay initially sought $525,000 for the 90 sqm unit when it was first listed in August.
It last traded for $439,000 in 2014. Since then the kitchen was updated.
The couple have been based in the Central Coast for over a decade.
In 2013 they spent $1.62 million upgrading to their current home in Jillibbi, a 17 hectare lifestyle property where they could have their horses.
They were moving from Mardi where they had resided in a four bed master-built home on 1.16 hectares since paying $580,000 in 2006.
They sold for $1.08 million.
Mark Waugh is cricketing royalty, a star with the bat in Test and ODI's.
He ranks as Australia's fifth highest run-scorer in Test history over his 128 game career which spanned 11 years to 2002.
Kim was New South Wales' top harness racing driver in the 1980s which she cut short to concentrate on training gallopers.
One of her most notable achievements in thoroughbred racing has been winning the Sydney Cup in 2005 with the stayer Mahtoum.
