Iconic mid-century Canberra trophy home set to go under the hammer
One of Canberra's iconic mid-century modern homes has hit the market after a recent renovation.
The Deakin home was designed by the late architect Miles Jakl, who was best known for the carousel restaurant Onred atop Red Hill, in the 1960s.
The three bedroom home was featured in 100 Canberra Houses: A Century of Capital Architecture, published in 2013 to time with the Canberra's centenary.
It has been updated since it last traded for $1.44 million in 2016, the first time it had been offered for sale when bought by the Muller family.
It has been listed for auction this weekend through Belle agents Leanne Palmer and Louise Harget.
Set on an 850 square metre Beauchamp Street block, the property features a landscaped courtyard, established gardens and a solar heated swimming pool.
It still has a feel of a 1960s entertainers' offering.
