The downsizing former Jacob's Creek winemaker Philip Laffer and wife Beverley are selling Daybreak, their historic Hunters Hill home.

The Victorian Gothic-style sandstone home was built in the early 1880s for the pioneering Lenehan family.

It has been modernised since the Laffers paid $3.2 million in 2007 and has five bedrooms and three bathrooms on 1,550 square metre, park-like grounds, with a solar-heated pool, spa and studio.

The auction is on April 4 with McGrath agent Tracey Dixon offering a $4.35 million price guidance.
