The historic Wahroonga Estate, in the Echuca district, has come onto the market.

The 43 hectare property features a homestead with five bedrooms, a large office and studio, a mudroom, a large entertaining area, an in-ground swimming pool, the original fireplace, and a brick underground cellar.

Also, on the property is a separate two bedroom fully renovated, equipped guest cottage that is currently tenanted.

Andrew Miller, from Rodwells Rural Property, has listed the sale on behalf of vendors who have held the property for the last 17 years, who are now ready for retirement and to embark on a travel agenda.

Miller is quoting a private sale expectation well over $1 million.

Wahroonga was originally owned by the Greiner family who, having acquired it in 1870, held it as their family home for five generations.

In its early days the estate commanded over 3000 acres where the Greiners ran multiple farming enterprises and even their own vineyard.

There was an interim ownership after the property was reduced in scale and that owner significantly revived the homestead before it was purchased by the current owners who have further enhanced its presentation during their 17 year ownership.

The Wahroonga homestead was built in 1924, having been designed by local architect A J Inches.

The original foundation stone, recording it was laid by J M Greiner on 2nd March 1924 and recognising A J Inches as the architect, is still embedded in a wall home.
