A Sandy Bay three bedroom house with historic significance serving as the coach house for the Mawhera Estate in the 1880s has been sold for $3.1 million.

Renovated in the 1960s by the current owners, the 504 Sandy Bay house was featured on the cover of a 1968 copy of Australian Home Beautiful.

The lower level with views of the Derwent River features proportioned lounge-room, north-facing patio, and kitchen with the access to the patio.

The upper level comes with two large bedrooms and a sitting room both with water views, and a large bathroom.
