A main street Kempton, Tasmania, property has been listed for sale with $595,000 plus hopes.

Built in 1833, the four bedroom 121 Main Street house is located in the heart of the historic former coach town, around 50 minute drive from the Hobart CBD.

It spans three levels. The ground level of the residence features a preserved lounge room, country style kitchen/dining, second living room, rumpus and laundry.

The first level comprises two large bedrooms with BIR, the master with ensuite and the family bathroom.

Two Dormer style bedrooms with BIR are located on the upper level of the home.

The 1491 square metre block includes a cottage garden.

Kempton Primary School is within walking distance.

It had last sold for $455,000 in 2015.

Built from convict bricks, the classic Georgian style home was perhaps the longest running shop in Kempton and for many years provided competition to W.H.Ellis’ Green Ponds Store.

It was sold shortly after it was built to Elizabeth Mayhew, a widow who operated the shop as a general store until her death in 1881.

It also traded as a service station.
