A historic Italianate mansion, in Victoria’s coastal region of Queenscliff, has come onto the market after undergoing extensive renovations.

Katalin and Stephen Blond are the vendors of the ten-bedroom residence at 34-36 King Street.

“We thought it was the most beautiful building that was in need of some love and attention” says Ms Blond.

When they bought it, the building was in a very poor condition having lived through more than 100 years of deterioration.

It was built in 1854, as a seaside hotel, carefully positioned to be outside the city limits for Geelong drinkers – at the time, being 17 miles or more from the CBD meant you could drink on a weekend.

The listing notes the versatility of the address, stating that it could be used as a beach house, divided into two mansions with separate entrances, transformed into luxury seaside apartments, or used for commercial purposes as a restaurant, bar, or wedding venue.

It will go to auction on December 7 with a price guide between $3,750,000 to $4,100,000.
