Halstead House, one of Caulfield's oldest homes, listed for sale
Halstead House, believed to be the oldest existing house in Melbourne's Caulfield, has been listed for sale.
First time offered in over 37 years, Halstead House was constructed in the mid 1850s with additions during the 19th century.
It was built for and owned by stock agent James Dickson.
Halstead House's most striking feature is its three storey tower with Mansard roof and cast-iron balustrade.
The three storey tower has two retreats on each level.
The five bedroom home features a reception hall, a grand sitting room and formal dining room, both with open fires, and a den.
In the 2,760 sqm established gardens is a pond wrapped in the circular driveway, a heated swimming pool, tennis court and barbecue pavilion.
The former stables have been converted in to a two level self-contained accomodation.
It has a $11 million to $12 million guide.
