The downsizing former RBA governor Glenn Stevens and wife Susan have banked a triumphant sale pre-auction in the Sutherland Shire.

After 27 years ownership, McGrath agent David Greig was giving a $1.7 million to $1.8 million price guide for the five-bedroom, two-storey Sylvania Waters home.

The couple paid $312,500 for their non-waterfront (top right) in 1992 which was their home along with their two children.

The Shire ranks among Sydney’s top regions securing a 90 per cent weekend success rate, upon the 75 per cent during August.

CoreLogic data shows it was 56 per cent last August.

The 61-year-old Stevens, who was at the central bank between 1980 and 2016, is now a Macquarie Group director.

In 2007, Stevens deprecatingly told a House of Representatives hearing, “My house is not a fibro house, but it is a piece of spec rubbish built in the 1970s, and in many respects it shows that.”

Three years ago the four bedroom home next door sold for $1,625,000.
