Ray White's former leading agent Gavin Rubinstein is airborn today.

He has posted a selfie to his near 20,000 Instagram followers from his pointy end plane seat, which came after a short video via his camera team as he headed through the international terminal.

No glamorous holiday or work destination this time, but a charity fundraising commitment, RISE 2019 in Christchurch following its recent mosque shootings.

After Tuesday night's sudden departure from Ray White Double Bay, Rubinstein had posted an image of himself and three associates, Oliver Lavers, Cae Thomas and newest recruit Bradley Plos, jumping in the air with the caption 'Dreamchasers'.

Sydney socialite Barbara Coombes, executive assistant at Coombes Property, commented on the post, writing that the image was "cool & perfectly styled might I add."

Lavers also posted after the big announcement to Instagram a picture of the extended team including Remi Quinlivan.

The decision that ended Rubinstein's time at Ray White came after the newly installed Double Bay chief Elliott Placks returned from a holiday in Mauritius celebrating his 10th anniversary with wife Lauren Smorgon.

The Rubinstein Group website is down.

But team member Jerome Srot was taking his mobile calls.

There is no indication yet as to Rubinstein's plans.
