Garry Dumbrell makes another Hawthorn splash
Businessman Garry Dumbrell, the co-founder of the Autobarn spare parts retailer, has bought the Hawthorn East mansion, Ellerslie.
The entrepreneur's whisper quiet purchase is expected to be around $16 million.
The historic home was built in 1891 by John Beswicke, the renowned architect that designed the neaby town hall.
The renovated and restored five bedroom with stained glass windows features a gothic-style central tower.
There's a ground floor drawing room with open fireplace and marble mantelpiece and a vast parquetry-floored library.
Surrounded in formal manicured gardens that include a swimming pool and tennis court.
Dumbrell's plans are not known. He's no stranger to top sales having spent $20.25 million on Avon Court, the Hawthorn trophy he bought from businessman Clinton Casey in 2009.
Avon Court onsold off market to Chinese interests at $19.8 million in 2014.
