Former Jacob's Creek winemaker sells Daybreak at Hunters Hill
The downsizing former Jacob’s Creek winemaker Philip Laffer and wife Beverley have sold Daybreak, their historic Hunters Hill home.
The five-bedroom sandstock cottage, in James Street, had been modernised since the Laffers paid $3.2 million in 2007.
It had previously traded for $1,805,000 in 2001 and at $1.21 million in 1997 when sold by the retired Saatchi executive Michael Rollins and wife Pauline.
The home featured in the 2000 Rachel Griffiths movie, Me, Myself & I, and sits on 1550 square metre parklike grounds, which come with a solar-heated pool, spa and studio.
McGrath agent Tracey Dixon, who was offering a $4.35 million price guidance, secured a pre-auction sale to UK-based expatriate buyers.
The picturesque Victorian Gothic-style home was built in the early 1880s for the Lenehan family, who held it until the 1920s.
It was constructed of sandstock bricks, cement rendered and limed to simulate stonework.
