Legendary fashion designer Fella Hamilton is selling her Toorak apartment.

She's asking $5.7 million to $5.95 million for the European-inspired, Nicholas Day-designed three bedroom, three bathrooms apartment on St Georges Road.

Just one of two ground floor apartments in the block, its French doors open to gardens which feature a pool.

Hamilton paid $1.8 million in 1998 when she bought with her late husband, Melbourne businessman Dick Harbig.

Kay & Burton South Yarra agents Robyn Feigen and Michael Gibson are seeking offers until December 13.

Hamilton began her eponymous label in 1969 expanding to 30 stores.

The company is now ran by her son David and his wife Sharon.

Fella's original dream of designing fashionable items for women, who like her at the time were in their 40s.
