Fairfax Media director Patrick Allaway has secured a buyer for his Mosman home that he bought less than two years ago.

The Esther Road home cost Allaway and wife Elizabeth $3.95 million in late 2015. It came with $4.3 million to $4.7 million hopes through Ray White Lower North Shore agent Geoff Smith.

The sandstone, timber and glass home 200 metres from Balmoral Beach has three bedrooms and a barbecue terrace.

Allaway bought the home following the $4.1 million sale of his three bedroom apartment in The Residence at Hyde Park to Fairfax Media chief executive Greg Hywood.
