The Exeter garden estate Allways has sold for the first time in over two decades, selling for $2.3 million.

It initially sought $2.25 million when first listed in 2015. It's been on and off the market since.

The 2.35 hectare property, last traded for $390,000 in 1999, is described as a quintessential Highlands estate by its The Agency selling agents Cameron McKillop and Nathaniel Berry.

The two level, three bedroom main homestead features a country kitchen with walk-in pantry.

In the garden is an artist's or music room with views over the garden. There's a workshop with mezzanine and a gazebo in the old orchard.

The espaliered apple orchard features varieties of 250 heritage English apples are just coming in to fruit.

The landscaped veggie patch and citrus gardens are protected behind an early sand stocked brick high wall. There's also a lake on the property.
