The TV legend Ernie Carroll’s Mount Eliza home has been sold.

Caroll, the man behind the puppet, Ossie Ostrich and his partner, Miffy Marsh, had $4.2 million hopes for their beachside home of 32 years.

But the offering at 6 Osprey Avenue may have sold for $4.75 million.

The four-bedroom house comes with a salt-chlorinated pool on a 1026sq m block.

Carroll, who recently turned 91, and Marsh paid $740,000 in 1988.

He joined Melbourne station GTV-9 in 1956, as a producer of children’s programs including The Tarax Show.

He later was the voice and puppeteer of Ossie Ostrich, Daryl Somers’ sidekick for many years on Hey Hey It’s Saturday.

The home sold through Marshall White Mornington Peninsula agent James Tostevin to a Melbourne family, who will use it as a holiday house.
